Access Restrictions

The collection is in the middle of a long-term reorganization and description effort, in order to number and better label the folders and boxes in the collection. Please see the Military Collection Archivist to access this collection, as old box numbers from the 1960s' collections listed in this finding aid do not match the newer box numbering sequence.

Collection Overview

The collection was received by the State Archives of North Carolina between 1946-1947, and was never processed. It is in the original folders from 1946. The collection documents the combined roles of the YMCA, YWCA, National Catholic War Council, War Camp Community Service, American Library Association, Salvation Army, and Jewish Welfare Board, in efforts to raise and utilize funds to support wartime work at home in North Carolina and abroad. The collection covers every county in North Carolina, and their fundraising efforts. The collection includes the original membership lists, funding agreements with the National War Fund, petty cash receipts, correspondence with county war fund boards/groups, financial records, etc.
