Scope and Content:

This subseries contains correspondence and subject files pertaining to the Mary Duke Biddle Gallery. Files related to the administration of the gallery, donations, programming, publicity, and some exhibition planning are also included as subject files. Subject files often contain images of gallery objects and publicity photographs of docents and visitors. Materials date from 1959 to 2001, with the bulk of material dating from 1964 to 1984.

This subseries contains records relating to exhibitions held at the Mary Duke Biddle Gallery for the Blind and, later, the Education Gallery at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Records include correspondence; photographs; loan receipts; research files; publicity materials like brochures and pamphlets; exhibition planning materials such as label text, object lists, and tour transcripts; a visitor guest book; a photo album; and a metal braille slate.

English transcriptions, created by the State Archives of North Carolina, are included for the two exhibition booklets written in braille.
