Abstract
Collection contains many scenes and collected card photographs from Claudeous (Claudius)
and Sudie Oates, of Clinton, NC c. 1900-1910. Many of the snapshots depict the old
Sampson County courthouse before its 1938 renovation and several unidentified houses
and structures in the town of Clinton after a snow event. Much of the collection consists
of Card photographs ranging in size from 5.5"x5.5" to 11"x12".

Collection Overview
Collection contains many scenes and collected card photographs from Claudeous (Claudius)
and Sudie Oates, of Clinton, NC c. 1900-1910. Clinton, NC is located approximately
30 miles east of Fayetteville, NC. Many of the snapshots depict the old Sampson County
courthouse before its 1938 renovation. These snapshots (PhC.22.2) were taken ca. 1910-1915
and also depict several unidentified houses and structures in the town of Clinton
after a snow event. Much of the collection consists of Card photographs ranging in
size from 5.5"x5.5" to 11"x12". These card photographs depict various subject matter
not necessarily in Clinton, NC. These include group pictures of church events, rail
stations in South Carolina, and posed pictures of infants.
