    Account books (1750-1755, 1761-1775; portions missing) kept by Newby, Quaker merchant and planter in Perquimans Co., recording purchases and payments, usually in kind, at his general store at Newby's Bridge on Perquimans River, with occasional information on occupation or parentage of customer. Also recorded are expenses and returns of voyages to West Indies by several vessels (1763-1773), with details of cargo, captains, crew (part slave), wages, and pilotage and duties paid.
