    Correspondence of the Hambrick and Paylor families of Caswell Co. Letters from John T. Hambrick were written as captain of Co. D, 13th Regt. NCT, Camp Suffolk, Va. (1861); on business trip to Baltimore (1866); to the U.S. commandant, Greensboro, about his mule (1865); and to his brother about state politics and the idea of Negro equality (1868). Also included are letters from J. D. and William Paylor discussing business and politics (1865-1866); circular from Charles F. Deems, Raleigh, proposing publication of a nonpartisan weekly journal (1865); and extra edition of the Sentinel (Raleigh), Dec. 25, 1865, describing W. W. Holden's relinquishment of governor's office to Jonathan Worth.
