    Selected miscellaneous items (1820-1889) from Mangum Family Papers in the Southern Historical Collection, UNC, chiefly deeds and other legal papers (10 ft.); and selected material (1809-1894) from the Mangum papers in the Library of Congress (70 ft.), added to that collection after many of Mangum's papers there were edited and published (1950-1956) by Henry Thomas Shanks. These include personal and business correspondence of Willie Person Mangum, Orange Co. Whig and U.S. congressman and senator, with some letters from his wife and a few about politics, Revolutionary pensions, Cherokee Indians, Texas prisoners of war in Mexico (1843), post offices, the U.S. Navy, Marines, and revenue cutter service.
