    Diary (Aug., 1861-Jan., 1862) of Lieutenant Bell of the Jonesboro Guards, describing departure of troops from Camden, encampment near Ft. Hatteras, battle, surrender, voyage to Governor's Island, N.Y., transfer to Ft. Warren in Boston harbor, prison life, political prisoners at Ft. Warren, including James Mason and John Slidell, a visit by the British consul, and Bell's trip home as exchanged prisoner via New York and Baltimore. The diary includes autographs of imprisoned military and naval officers and of political prisoners such as newspaper editors, Maryland legislators, and the mayor and various police officials of Baltimore.
