Abstract
Photograph of the portrait of Thomas Wolfe painted by Frank Herbert Mason, 1979, which hangs in the Dialectic Chamber of the Dialectic and Philanthropic Societies at UNC-Chapel Hill. The photograph is one of approximately seven prints that were made by Acorn Color Laboratories, Inc., New York, at the request of the artist at the time the portrait was acquired by the Di-Phi Societies.

Photograph of the portrait of Thomas Wolfe painted by Frank Herbert Mason, 1979, which
hangs in the Dialectic Chamber of the Dialectic and Philanthropic Societies at UNC-Chapel
Hill. The photograph is one of approximately seven prints that were made by Acorn
Color Laboratories, Inc., New York, at the request of the artist at the time the portrait
was acquired by the Di-Phi Societies. These photos were presented to a number of Di-Phi
members. This particular print was intended to be given to L. H. Fountain but was
never delivered. George Templeton Blackburn came into possession of the print and
gave it to Kevin Cherry who in turn donated it to the State Archives in January of
2015.
