Collection Overview
Papers of Ehringhaus, Elizabeth City attorney and governor (1933-1937), consisting mostly of social correspondence with Democratic officeholders and other public figures. Many letters, bills, and receipts relate to his financial affairs, including real estate, and to his membership in the Society of the Cincinnati, Freemasons, and Shrine. Also included is correspondence with his Elizabeth City law partner John H. Hall, concerning the firm's affairs. Miscellaneous items include memorandums (1937) for Governor-elect Clyde.R. Hoey on the N.C. Emergency Relief Administration and on the state budget for 1937-1939.
