Typescript U.S. centennial celebration address (1876) delivered at Oxford in Granville Co. by editor and critic Theodore B. Kingsbury, together with his 111-page expansion of that address containing military, political, religious, and educational history of the area, especially of colonial and Revolutionary Granville and Bute counties. Included are biographical sketches, often based on personal knowledge, of many residents such as Hutchins G. Burton, Robert Burton, Robert B. Gilliam, Richard Henderson and other members of the Henderson family, Thomas Person, Henry Potter, and John Williams; lists of congressmen, legislators, judges, state officers, and army officers from Granville Co.; and a roster of the Granville Grays (2nd Co. D, 12th Regt. NCT), 1861-1865. Also in the collection are copied articles about the centennial celebration; copy of letter to Kingbury with roster of Co. G, 47th Regt. NCT; and Photocopy of drawing of Archibald Henderson, Granville Co. clerk of court, 1788.
