Marriott, Wake Co. clerk of court, include both personal bills and receipts and those relating to court costs (1838- 1859). Sales of slaves (1850-1860) and promissory notes involve J. T. Marriott, G. W. Norwood, Charles and John Manly, Thomas H. Briggs, Perrin Busbee, and others, and there is a list of slave dates of birth from 1820 to 1864. Miscellaneous items include copies of wills of Frank Anderson (Franklin Co., 1817) and Sarah Nance (Wake Co., 1828); and agreements for W. O. and J. H. Ferrell of Raleigh to buy engine from Oneida Iron Works (1880-1884). Printed material relates to Inter-State Farmers' Association (1888), reorganization of Democratic party (1897); and the campaign for the constitutional amendment disfranchising Negroes, with speech by George Rountree, election laws, and broadsides (1900).
