Collection Overview

114 color photograph depicting all county courthouses in North Carolina as well as the State Capitol Building in downtown Raleigh, NC. Photos taken July 1975 through August 1978 by Lenox T. Thornton and represent the sixth album in a series by Thornton depicting county courthouses of the United States. The photos were initially arranged alphabetically by county within an album. By 2015 the album was deteriorating significantly and the photos were removed and rehoused individually along with their original captions. Original captions list name and location of each courthouse and the population of each county in 1970.
